IDG Contributor Network: ZeroStack and Nimble get close to offering a converged infrastructure solution

Maybe I haven’t attended many legacy vendors’ conferences lately, but I haven’t seemed to have heard many converged infrastructure mentions recently.

Go back a year or two and every legacy vendor under the sun (and every younger vendor wanting to partner or be acquired by a legacy vendor) was dropping the converged infrastructure moniker all the time. Converged infrastructure (CI from now on) is a pretty simple concept, one which users of personal computing devices will see as normal. Essentially CI is all about offering storage, compute and the infrastructure to run it all within one unit. Instead of having a standalone storage device, some compute infrastructure elsewhere, and some software to tie it all together, CI packs it all up nicely with a bow on it.

UnifiedCommunications.com Introduces Device-as-a-Service Solution

UnifiedCommunications.com has introduced their new Device-as-a-Service solution, as an innovative approach to managing devices for leading UC platforms like Microsoft’s Skype for Business.

Available initially to customers with 100–2500 users over a 12, 24 or 36-month service duration, this subscription service provides customers with an OPEX solution to access both cloud-based unified communications services and the audio devices that users need to properly utilize the service.

Ryan Herbst, VP of Device Strategy at UnifiedCommunications.com, says that the new approach will benefit agile businesses who have embraced UC and appreciate the advantages of an operational cost model with a comprehensive service-level agreement.

“Many customers have already benefited from other ‘as a service’ models, and with unified communications projects, the capital expenditure related to hardware has been a challenge. The introduction of Device-as-a-Service eliminates this CAPEX concern by providing a single monthly fee for the entire solution. We’ll initially be enabling the bundling of headsets and will later extend this offer to include other audio and video endpoints.”

In partnership with Plantronics, a global leader in audio communications, UnifiedCommunications.com will roll out the new solution with bundles including Plantronics Voyager, Savi, and Blackwire Bluetooth, wireless and wired headsets.

Plantronics VP of Global Channel and Field Marketing, Erna Arnesen says, “Plantronics Device-as-a-Service Pro is designed to be easy, flexible and budget friendly.” Furthermore, Ms. Arnesen says, “It also eliminates compromises and allows companies to match the right headset to users’ work styles for enhanced user satisfaction.”

This new approach demonstrates UnifiedCommunications.com’s commitment to implementing comprehensive unified communications solutions that serve their customers’ changing needs. With more unified communications users transitioning to cloud-based infrastructures, Unified Communications as a Service is enjoying significant market growth.

Tolles Career & Technical Center (OH) Expands Online Student Application System from InfoSnap to Include a Customized Registration Solution

Austin, Texas (PRWEB) June 18, 2015

The Tolles Career and Technical Center in Plain City, Ohio, expands its partnership with InfoSnap by moving the center’s registration process online. In addition to InfoSnap providing the career and technical center with an online application solution that increased submissions by 25%, an intuitive registration solution will be added to streamline both processes. Seamless integration between InfoSnap and ProgressBook Suite (PBS), the center’s student information system, will result in accurate and up-to-date student data by the first day of school.

“It is our goal to implement transparent and automated solutions. InfoSnap is keeping us in the forefront of cutting-edge technology by customizing our solutions to significantly increase productivity, accuracy of data, and family happiness,” notes Lee Wirick, Associate School Coordinator at Tolles.

The online registration solution will provide families with an easy-to-use process for enrolling and registering their child/children at their own convenience. Families who have more than one child within the school system can ‘snap’ data from one student to another. The use of SmartForm™ technology, an intuitive tool built into the solution, will collect relevant data based on previously entered information or choices (grade, activities, medical history, etc.). The data submitted by families is reviewed, polished, and formatted to meet the center’s policies and then delivered into PBS.

Achieving success with the application solution from InfoSnap prompted Tolles Career and Technical Center to incorporate registration in this online process.

Forty four user profiles are integrated into the application platform. Once a student applies, the counselor at the appropriate school is notified to sign in and complete pertinent information. After counselors conclude their portion of the application process, tags are generated, alerting registrars to log in and complete the next step. “The transparency is constant and we have significantly increased the number of applications we receive,” said Wirick.

Wirick adds, “We looked at several companies and ultimately selected InfoSnap because of the customization they provide. We weren’t pushed into a style that we could not alter. The ability to design and develop a solution to meet our unique needs, and seamlessly integrate that product into PBS, is invaluable,” states Wirick.
