The fact of the matter is that not only are these short key phrases difficult to rank for due to high competition, they also do not convert very well since much of the traffic which they attract is irrelevant. Therefore, you will have more success targeting longer, descriptive key phrases. This is because the competition is less, and the relevance to your website is higher.
